Domaine des Baumard Clos du Papillon 2015 and Domaine des Baumard Savennieres 2016 are recommended as two exemplary expressions of wine from this variety. When describing the Clos du Papillon Savennières, the writer adds “Like the butterfly adorning its bottle, this is a wine that takes flight: fresh, mineral-driven, white pear and green plum. Pretty texture—slight but not too heavy creaminess.” In comparison, the Savennières offers “More white and green fruit notes (pear, apple) with a touch of almond skin. Classic wet-stone minerality.”
