The editors from luxury publication Robb Report compiled their holiday wine gift recommendations for oenophiles, including one sparkling wine – Champagne Bollinger La Grande Année 2008.
As far as critical acclaim goes, 2008 is considered to be one of the best vintages in the Champagne region this century. Champagne Bollinger La Grande Année 2008 is among the great wines produced from this collectible vintage, and “stands out for its power, tamed by practices unique to its barrel rooms and kilometers of underground cellars.”
Wine writer Sara Schneider explains the rigorous, detail-oriented steps the Bollinger team takes to produce this prestige cuvée. Continuing to describe the finished wine, “the result is a gorgeous sparkler with generous, mouth-filling flavors, balanced in this moment between the freshness of youth and complex maturity. Juicy apple, honeyed lemon and energetic minerality are concentrated at its core, while lovely floral, brioche and hazelnut notes swirl around the edges.” Read the full story HERE

La Grande Année: The Great Year. This Champagne is the embodiment of everything that makes Bollinger the producer that stands apart in Champagne. La Grande Année, or LGA, preserves the traditions of the past and symbolizes the word "hand-crafted" so strongly that an overused word suddenly becomes the only appropriate definition.

Bollinger is one of the rare Grande Marques that’s still family owned. Known for its rich, elegant and polished style of Champagne, their outstanding wines are the result of rigorous attention to detail and incredibly labor-intensive practices that few houses are willing to undertake. Underscoring its excellence, Bollinger has remained British secret agent James Bond's Champagne of choice since 1973.
